MAJOR CHANGES IN TOEFL

The time period of the TOEFL are shortened by half an hour – to just 3 hours and there'll be fewer queries within the Reading, Listening and Speaking sections. These are the key changes created to the TOEFL which is able to get force from august 1, 2019. The Educational Testing Services (ETS) that conducts the TOEFL, however, didn't create changes to overall test format or question varieties. Additionally, the new MyBest™ scores feature can combine test takers’ best scores for every section from all valid TOEFL Internet Based Test (iBT) scores from the previous 2 years. This feature permits test takers to indicate their best overall test performance to institutions creating necessary admissions decisions.

All TOEFL iBT score reports sent after august 1, 2019, regardless of the test administration date, can automatically embrace MyBest scores alongside the normal scores from the test taker’s designated test date, Educational Testing Services in an announcement said, “A growing range of establishments are acknowledging the worth of seeing applicants’ best section scores when they take a standardized test more than once,” said Srikant Gopal, executive of the TOEFL Programme, ETS.

“We conjointly know that test takers wish an English-language test that helps them stand out to admissions officers. These changes offer a considerably higher testing experience for college students, whereas institutions will widen their pools of qualified applicants that meet their English-language necessities”, Gopal said.

To round out the improved test-taking experience, ETS developed a brand new registration and account management system. As a result, test takers will see larger practicality, an efficient registration experience, easy accessibility to test preparation and more.
